Today we formally invited all NICS schools to join our Leadership conference. I have pasted the letter below so that everyone knows what's going on.

Dear NICS Administrators –
The Bandung Alliance International School Student Council would like to formally invite your student leaders to attend a NICS Student Leadership Conference in Bandung, Indonesia from February 1-5, 2012.
With a new building, a growing local community and a solid Student Council, BAIS is excited about this opportunity to host NICS students from around the world who are in pursuit of growing as leaders in their schools and communities. We welcome any Student Council members or growing leaders in your high school, grades 9-12.
Our proposed conference speaker is from Canada and lives in Indonesia as a leadership and management consultant for various local and international companies and organizations. He also has significant experience in working with high school students. Our kids love him and they think your students will too!
Our plan is that conference participants will arrive in Jakarta in the morning or early afternoon on February 1, or if possible, fly directly into Bandung via Air Asia from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). There may be other airline carriers that have direct flights from these two hubs as well. Participants will stay with host families from the BAIS community.
Thursday and Friday plans include:
Leadership sessions with speaker
Conflict Resolution discussions with team building activities
Guided forum discussion for Student Councils to share struggles and successes at their schools
Saturday plans include:
Exploration of Bandung area, including trip to a volcano and hot springs
Team Building activities
Conference participants should plan on finding a return flight that leaves Sunday late afternoon or early evening (if flying out of Jakarta) or sometime after noon (if leaving from Bandung). Note that it takes about 3-4 hours by car to get from Bandung to Jakarta (not including 2 hour advance check in for international flights.
We are just in the beginning phases of planning this event, and more information will be coming. We will need a minimum of 8 students from outside of BAIS in order to be able to host this event for a reasonable cost. Our goal is to make this retreat as cheap as possible to allow for the highest attendance possible. If 8 students attend, we are looking at a cost around $250 per student attending. If we have a bigger commitment than 8, we will update you with the reduced amount. For any chaperones attending, we are planning to charge $100, though this cost could also reduce depending on numbers. Chaperones are not a requirement, but they are encouraged!
Please note that these costs include all food, accommodations and Saturday excursion costs. The cost does not include international airfare, tourist visa-on-arrival ($30/person) or transport for those who will need to arrive/depart from Jakarta ($20/person).
Our deadline for application is Friday, October 21. If you have any questions or would like an application, please email
jennieblair@baisedu.org. We will not require a deposit at that time, but we trust that an application is a commitment to attend.
Sincerely,
Jennie Blair
